The James Irvine Foundation Board of Directors approves $6.85 million in grants on March 14, 2024, bringing Q1 grantmaking total to $31.65 million

March 18, 2024 – The James Irvine Foundation Board of Directors approved three grants totaling $6.85 million last week. The Foundation also provided $24.8 million in grants this quarter that did not require board approval.  

The grants primarily support the Foundation’s four initiatives focused on working Californians (Better Careers, Fair Work, Just Prosperity, and Priority Communities). More information about all grants can be found in the Foundation’s database here, and the board-approved grants include:  

Just Prosperity  

Catalyst California  

A two-year grant of $1.5 million for general operating support. 

PICO California  

A two-year grant of $2 million for general operating support.  

Priority Communities  

Community Foundation for Monterey County 

A two-year grant of $3.35 million to further support the Salinas Inclusive Economic Development Initiative (SIEDI) in working with community-based organizations to build a more inclusive and equitably economy in Salinas. Seventy-five percent of the grant will be regranted.
