Teresa Matsui

Matsui Nursery, Inc.

Teresa Matsui was elected to the board in January 2022. She is President and Chief Executive Officer of Matsui Nursery, Inc., a $30 million potted orchid producer founded by her father, Andy Matsui, in 1967.

Teresa also heads the Matsui Foundation, a private foundation established by her parents to support the educational endeavors of underserved students in the Salinas Valley and Monterey County. Since 2004, the Matsui Foundation has disbursed over $8 million in scholarships to local students enrolled in undergraduate, graduate, and vocational programs.

Prior to helming Matsui Nursery, Teresa led enterprises in real estate syndication and hospitality. The real estate syndication firm she co-founded (The USA Group) raised nearly $25 million in equity in the mid-1980s for the development or acquisition of 30 hotels via private placements and public securities offerings. In 1992, she founded InnWorks to provide day-to-day management for a distressed portfolio of 21 franchised hotels in 10 states.

Teresa is a Director of Pacific Valley Bank, headquartered in Salinas, California. Her recent community involvement has included service as Vice Chair of the Board of Northern Clay Center, a Minnesota-based arts organization; board member of ClearWay Minnesota, an independent nonprofit funded by the State’s 1998 tobacco settlement; and interim Executive Director of Open Arms of Minnesota, a social services nonprofit.

Teresa received her MBA from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University and her AB from Harvard University.

Teresa lives in Monterey with her husband.
