Maria Anguiano Arizona State University Maria Anguiano was elected to the board in January 2016. She is currently the Senior Vice President of Strategy of Arizona State University and lives in San Diego, California. Prior to joining Arizona State University, she served as Chief Financial Officer at Minerva Project, Inc. Prior to her role with Minerva Project, Maria served as a Vice Chancellor for Planning and Budget at the University of California, Riverside, overseeing an $800 million financial budget for the campus of more than 21,000 students. Maria also worked on a variety of strategic initiatives for the University of California system-wide office, serving as chief of staff for the CFO and advisor to newly appointed President Janet Napolitano. Over her tenure, Maria tackled the most challenging and complex financial issues facing the UC system, including pension reform, cost transparency, financial planning, and cash flow management. Maria’s research on cost transparency was sponsored by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, where she served as an advisor on higher education issues. Prior to devoting her career to higher education, Maria worked as a public finance investment banker at Barclays Capital and an accountant at Deloitte. Maria graduated magna cum laude from Claremont McKenna College and later received her MBA from Stanford University. Maria is a board member of Campaign for College Opportunity and a civic leader in the Latina community. She is a graduate of the HOPE Leadership Institute. In June 2017, she was appointed by the office of Governor Jerry Brown to the University of California Board of Regents.
