Arizona State University

Maria Anguiano was elected to the board in January 2016. Since December 2020, Maria Anguiano has been Executive Vice President of the Learning Enterprise (LE) at Arizona State University. LE serves learners of all ages and backgrounds to inspire curiosity, wonder, and hope, in alignment with ASU’s charter and goals of advancing excellence in education, broadening access, and having a meaningful societal impact in a rapidly evolving, technologic world. LE’s vision is to advance universal access to opportunity for learners at every stage in life.

As a first-generation college graduate, Anguiano has dedicated her career to improving access to education for all learners. Her early experience in the finance industry (Barclays Capital and Deloitte) has given her an edge in envisioning sustainable, technology enabled, and scalable models for higher education that benefit the most-underserved communities.

Maria serves in leadership roles in VC backed start-ups to large public research universities, and has served as CFO of the Minerva Project and Vice Chancellor of Planning and Budget at the University of California-Riverside.

She is an experienced board member, serving as Vice Chair on the Board of Regents for the University of California system, KIPP Foundation, the Campaign for College Opportunity, and the Alliance for SoCal Innovation, guiding strategy and models that bolster economic mobility for underrepresented and underserved communities.

Maria holds an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and a BA from Claremont McKenna College.
