2008 Leadership Awards The James Irvine Foundation

Meet the Recipients > From the President

Dear Friends,

We are pleased to launch the call for nominations for The James Irvine Foundation Leadership Awards. Now in the program’s third year, the awards recognize individuals who are advancing innovative and effective solutions to important issues for California’s future. We seek your active engagement in identifying promising candidates from all sectors and regions of the state for the 2008 awards.

Nominations were due to the Foundation on January 22, 2008. A Selection Committee — comprised of nine distinguished Californians — will review the nominations and select four to six award recipients, who will be announced in the summer of 2008. Each award recipient receives $125,000 to advance his or her programmatic effort, including at least $100,000 of core support for the project the leader has championed and up to $25,000 for professional development, as determined by the recipient. In addition, the awards program includes strategic communications support for the recipients, designed to educate policymakers and practitioners about promising solutions to critical state challenges.

The 2006 and 2007 recipients are successfully tackling some of the state’s most pressing issues and we are gratified to recognize and honor their efforts through this award.

I encourage you to nominate an exemplary Californian for the 2008 awards. The nomination process is relatively simple and nominations can be submitted online. Please join us in our effort to celebrate outstanding Californians.

Sincerely,

Signature

President and CEO
