About the Award > Selection Process and Timeline

Following is the 2008 timeline for The James Irvine Foundation Leadership Awards:

January 22, 2008

Nominations — both online and mailed submissions — are due to the Foundation's San Francisco office by 5:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time.

March 2008

With the support of Foundation program staff, the Selection Committee meets to discuss the nomination pool and select a set of finalists.

Late March 2008

Each nominator is informed whether or not his or her nominee has advanced to the finalist round.

March to April 2008

Irvine program staff and an expert in each finalist's field of work meet with finalists individually to understand further each person's work and its impact on California.

Late May 2008

The Selection Committee meets to review reports of the site visits, to deliberate, and to select four to six award recipients.

July 2008

2008 award recipients are publicly announced.
