We provide funding for a wide variety of purposes, from core operating support to program implementation to specific communication strategies or capacity-building projects.

While our grantmaking is targeted to specific strategies within each of our three program areas of Arts, California Perspectives and Youth, there are some broad categories of activities that we do not fund:

  • Projects that do not benefit California
  • Organizations that receive more than 50 percent of their revenue from government donations (please see our eligibility guidelines)
  • Electoral campaigns
  • Legislative lobbying
  • Awards, prizes or competitions
  • Deficit reduction
  • Institutions that discriminate on the basis of race, creed, gender or sexual orientation, in policy or practice

If you have any questions about the types of funding we provide, please contact our Grants Manager by email at grantsadmin@irvine.org, or by phone at 415-777-2244.
