Marty Campbell was appointed Vice President for Programs in November 2003, having previously served the Foundation as Director of Evaluation and Program Director. Marty joined the Foundation in 1995 following a decade of work experience in Africa. Just before joining the Foundation, she was the Assistant Country Director of the CARE mission in Rwanda. Prior to that, she developed and evaluated community development, reproductive health, child health and HIV/AIDS prevention programs with CARE in Uganda and Sudan and USAID in Senegal. From 1982–1985, she served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Zaire. A graduate of Dartmouth College, she holds a master's degree in Public Affairs from the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton University. Marty is a member of the Board of Directors of Grantmakers for Effective Organizations (GEO).
