The James Irvine Foundation is a nonprofit, private foundation established to expand opportunity for the people of California. The Foundation is governed by an independent Board of Directors, which is committed to ensuring that the Foundation manages its assets, operations and grantmaking programs to advance the mission and goals in support of the broad guidance provided by the founder, James Irvine. The board also believes that, as a tax-exempt organization, the Foundation is accountable to the people of California and should provide access to information about the Foundation's governance structure.
