Program Associate, California Democracy
Stephanie Lai was appointed Program Associate for the California Democracy program in November 2007. Prior to joining the Foundation, she worked for the Asian and Pacific Islander American Health Forum, where she facilitated the grantmaking process for Health Through Action, a national initiative co-sponsored by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation to strengthen and bolster community approaches to improving health. Previously, Stephanie served as Director of Government Relations and Law Reform for the Small Claims Advisory Service, a public service organization run by Harvard undergraduates that assists socioeconomically disadvantaged individuals by providing them with free legal information regarding Massachusetts small claims law and procedures. Stephanie currently serves as a Co-Chair of the Bay Area chapter of the Asian Americans/Pacific Islanders in Philanthropy and Vice President of the Taiwanese American Citizens League’s San Francisco chapter. Stephanie holds Bachelor of Arts degrees in social studies and music from Harvard University, where she graduated magna cum laude and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. An avid cellist who performs widely, Stephanie also has a master’s in cello performance from the Royal Northern College of Music.
