Special Assistant to the Vice President for Programs
Kevin Rafter was appointed Special Assistant to the Vice President for Programs in August 2007. Prior to joining Irvine, Kevin served as Research Associate at the Institute for Nonprofit Organization Management at the University of San Francisco. At the university, he was responsible for maintaining and analyzing large datasets about California’s nonprofit sector, and he developed a program of regional nonprofit sector reports that use this data to assess the strength of the sector in various parts of California. Kevin has a doctoral degree from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York (CUNY), where he helped launch a major survey of the New York City nonprofit sector and conducted research on the location of nonprofit social service organizations relative to social needs and financial resources across two regions of Northern California. He also serves as President of the North of the Panhandle Neighborhood Association in San Francisco.
