Paula Cordeiro was elected to the board in October 2006. Since 1998, Cordeiro has been Dean of the School of Leadership and Education Sciences at the University of San Diego. Previously, she was the coordinator of master and doctoral programs in educational leadership at the University of Connecticut. She is a former principal and school head of international schools in Venezuela and Spain, and is a past president of the University Council of Educational Administration. In 1998, she was awarded a fellowship by the Commonwealth Council for Educational Administration and Management. She has written three books, including Educational Leadership: A Problem-Based Approach, which she co-authored with William Cunningham, and she recently co-edited a special issue of the Teacher Education Quarterly. Cordeiro sits on a number of boards and is past President of the San Diego Council on Literacy, a founding member of the Academy of International School Heads, and a board member of the International Council for the Education of Teachers (ICET). A graduate of Bridgewater State College, she received a Master of Education degree from Rhode Island College and a Doctorate in Administration and Supervision from the University of Houston, Texas.
